• I have this exact same problem! It started about the third generation or so of my current household. I haven't looked to see if it's happening to any of my other games, but it's very frustrating! I tried deleting my cache, and while it did generally speed up my game, this problem persists.

• I'm at least glad I'm not the only one experiencing it :p Still, it's so annoying. I had it happen during a party, which completely killed any chance at had at getting gold.
• Have either of you tried the 'restoring factory settings' thing? It's more extensive than cache clearing. Instructions on how to do it without losing your saves, Sims/lots (Tray), or mods/CC are linked in my sig.

• Umm, okay. I've never heard of that before. Is that essentially resetting the game entirely? If it is, does it remove things from my catalog in the gallery? If it doesn't, I may as well just fully reset. I've saved everything really important in the gallery.

  If you *want* to start over from scratch on everything, delete that Sims 4 folder in My Documents. If you *don't* want to, copy your Tray (Library), Saves, and Mods folders to your desktop first. Then, after you delete the folder, start the game, and exit the game, copy those folders back. That will preserve all your information while getting rid of odd glitches that have crept in.

• I have the same problem. I tried doing what you insisted luthienrising, but it didn't work :/ I deleted the Sims 4 Document Folder, (while taking my saves out) and I reloaded so that the folder could renew, and then i quit and when I play, the game does move faster, but I still have the weird bug where I can't pause the game or change clock speeds, and my sims are idle.

  At first, it only happened when I used the faster speeds. Now it happens at slow speed as well. It usually happens after my sim comes back from work (one of the Get To Work jobs) or when my sim is having a conversation. It happens at other times, but I seem to notice it more with the conversations and coming back from work. What I do is go into buy/build mode and wait until everything stops. It sometimes takes a bit of waiting, but that is the workaround I use. I noticed the problem after the March 26 patch. Until they fix it, or a modder fixes it, that's the only thing I can think of doing.
• Open Origin, go to My Games. Right-click TS4 and use 'repair game' option. Wait untill it's ALL done and start the game to see if the problem persists.
• Repairing the game helped a bit. Before I had to wait up to 2-3 minutes for the game to pause when I hit the button now it's down to 1-2 minutes, occasionally 30 seconds. It's still extremely frustrating to sit there watching your sims stand idly as it changes from morning, to afternoon, to evening, watching their needs decrease, for the game to suddenly pause and snap back to 9am with their needs fully intact. It's a complete waste of my time and this glitch has caused me to avoid the game for the past few days because I didn't want to have to deal with it. I hope they fix this problem with the next update. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to put up with it.

• I have the same problem too, time would keep going but sims are frozen. I found out that if I click to travel 'm' (which is the travel shortcut for Mac) and cancel when I'm at the map, the game will return to where it was frozen and time would start working. It doesn't fix the problem itself but definitely helps to reduce the time of exiting and restarting the game.

  Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
  Also, try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Start a new game and test to see if the issues have been fixed. Then exit the game and then add back the 'options.ini' file and the 'saves' , 'screenshots' 'tray' 'custom music ' and 'mods' folders to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders, testing after replacing each one to make sure the game is working okay.

  Move your mods folder to the desktop, start the game and see if that helps the issues. If it does help, then put your mods/CC back into the mods folder one by one or in batches and testing to see which is the cause of the problem.

  Check to see if Mods/CC are causing the issues. Move your mods folder to the desktop, start the game and see if that helps the issues. If it does help, then put your mods/CC back into the mods folder in batches and testing to see which is the cause of the problem.

  I reset the Sims 4 folder and loaded the game with mods cluster by cluster. Problem persists even worst so. I can usually get about a good twenty minutes of play in before the game begins to act up. I also play on a Mac, are we being punished for something?

  Hello @RDMJA1990. When you tested the game without mods, did it work okay? It may be the mods that are causing issues.

  Sometimes having a large amount of items in the sims inventories and household inventory can cause issues. Perhaps remove some of the items from the inventories and see if that helps.

  hey @RDMAJ1990 sorry not sure i understand when you say loaded the games with mods cluster by cluster, have you pulled the whole mods folder out? if so does the game run better? if so i wouldnt test my mods i would keep all mods out but for the ones that you have looked up at the mod site to confirm they have been updated for the new patch. mods that are not updated for the new patch can cause issues
